LEAGUE MATCH

13th November 2005 - Daegu

Daegu Devils (0-0) Won Shot Wanderers FC

After a blistering start to the game with Ulsan dominating the opening 15 minutes and having numerous chances to score, Daegu began to settle down and move the ball around with a little more confidence and then themselves began to threaten the Ulsan defence.

The first half was evenly contested, with both teams playing tight in defence, but with Ulsan having the clearer opportunities to go ahead.

The second half was played in the same vain as the first, but towards the middle of the half, Daegu began to control the midfield with a little more determination and the Ulsan midfield began to waiver a little.

However, towards the end of the second half, both teams were going up and down the field with consecutive attempts at goal. A mistake from the Daegu goalkeeper from a goal kick, where he kicked the ball right to the Ulsan player, who was all alone, should have resulted in a goal, but the Ulsan player unfortunately scuffed the ground when he kicked the ball and the shot went agonizingly wide. A stroke of good luck for the Daegu goalie, that is for sure.

Mike Cavada, a former Ulsan player, was playing as a guest for Daegu. He was threatening down the right flank every time he got the ball and played as a nuisance to the Ulsan defence. However, Ulsan held tight and gave away nothing.

A free kick from a little over the half way line almost foiled the Daegu keeper, but ended up just over the bar in the top netting. A few more chances ended up with Ulsan's goalie making a couple of stellar saves, one being on the attacker one on one. The other being a shot that was well saved.

Kudos to the Ulsan keeper for keeping his team in the game. The same could be said for the Daegu keeper, who foiled a good attempt by Gareth Copley when he was sent through by a free kick one on one with the goalie.

At the end though, the score was a fair result for both teams and indicative of the manner that the game was played in. Both teams were very sportsmanlike and played the game very well and were very evenly matched.

This was a great result for Ulsan, who after having lost last weekend to DMZ 5-1, pulled their socks up and played a great game. DMZ had only beaten Daegu 2-1 the previous week.

The referee did a good job and a mention should go to the linesmen who also did a great job.

OUR MAN OF THE MATCH - Bryan Nowland(GK) - Bryan once again proved that he is a great addition to the team.  This is one of the first clean sheets that the WSW have had - great work once again.

OPPOSITION MAN OF THE MATCH - Yoshikawa Osamu - This guy was a constant danger.
